Witty Political Slogan

Being the typical new generation Malaysian, the ones who knows the government as nothing but a bunch of self-serving hypocrites, naturally, the tendency is to lean towards the anti-establishment. Whether the opposition is better if ever the come to power, I personally would doubt it. Simple Mathematics = Money gives power. Power corrupts.

But in the meantime, it is fun to surf and sympathise with the anti-establishment movements, who work tirelessly to right what is absolutely wrong and also those perceived to be wrong.

Anyway, as I was surfing the net, I come across a very witty slogan posted on a banner.

To those in the know, this will definitely bring a smile to your face (or not, depending on your political allegiance) but the one who came up with this witty slogan ought to win a medal!!

Jangan timbang-timbang literally means do not have to think twice (or re-consider)
Fikir bulat-bulat literaly means make an absolute decision (or think decisively)

Now, the best part of this slogan is, there will be two heavyweights in play here, the government and the opposition candidates. The "present" government's party's logo is a "weighing scale" (dacing) whereas the opposition party's logo is a "full moon" (bulan).

The word play that interests me is that, timbang is also associated with dacing, timbang being also to mean weighing.

Whereas, full moon is definitely round, which is bulat.

So, now the meaning of the slogans become clearer?

Direct English translation would sound something like this -

Don't consider weighing scale
Think round (full moon) absolutely

In English, the sarcasm is lost but in Malays, this has to be one of the best yet I have come across for being short and precise, right to the point.

As You Age

Some people aged gracefully. Some people just aged. Some, don't at all (or much later or less obviously)

Me, I would say, the mind is willing to stay young but the body seemed to be moving much fast forward, too much speed in actual fact, to my liking....As if I would have any say in delaying it, sigh..

It seemed funny how your body simply refused to listen to your mind, it just do as it wishes and the body is more susceptible to pains and aches. I can't fathom living to the ripe old age of 70 or 80, with my present state of body. I think, a good old ripe age for me would be like 60 and that is like slightly more than 20 years to go only before I starts saying my goodbyes.

I hope by then, I would have achieved what I wanted (not all of it, obviously) and that I would have left a small mark to be remembered well past my swan song.

Utopia

In wikipedia, link is defined as a perfect society or perfect world. Which, all of us know, for the time being, it is practically non-existent. Every human have different yardstick to measure things, everything. That is why Utopia will not exist because of greed, selfishness and many other things.

I advised someone that it is better to work with what we have instead of asking for a perfect world. I suggested that utopia is what you made it to be, it don't exist just like that and that always, always, something's gotta give. As long as what is given out is bearable and the return is much greater, it already is somewhat of an utopia.

In our life, we would love and/or strive for a perfect world. But the law of karma says that action begets reaction. One action will lead to some kind of reaction and you will have no control over the reaction, you can anticipate, you can forsee but you just can't be 100% sure. Since that is the case, why not just act on it and pray hard that the reaction is what we anticipated and that if it falls within 80% of your anticipation, consider it as an overwhelming success instead of wallowing in the missing 20% failure?

Cholesterol Laden Yummy

For the past four days, continuously, I have been eating prawns and crabs by the kilos, with different group of people. If I ever step into any clinic for check up, I will sure be told to stop eating all these goodies for the next 6 to 12 months!!

And cholesterol laden seafood is simply delicious, right? Something got to give if I am to continue like this. I can take comfort in that I should be back to my strict greens and raws only food for the next one two weeks, to clear of the system of any lingering traces of manufactured foods inside the system and to ensure that I will still fit into my clothes, hahaha. Come to think of it, most of my new clothes are more or less body hugging, unlike previous design which is baggy and hiding all the bulges. There is less opportunity to hide the bulges with the present line up...

My neighbour is having a party. I was invited but I didn't go. Not so much because I don't want to but the group of people seemed to be outsider totally and I probably got invited just because I am one of the nearest. But since I don't know anybody there and it is after all a birthday party for the son, I could be excused, I suppose. And not to mention that my god sister came to town and I invited her to dinner (sea food, with big crabs, about 3 kilos of it!!!), so, I am practically loaded with food to be able to eat anything after the dinner.

My kedondong seemed to be fruiting and and I look forward to enjoying the juice to be blended from it, hahaha. My god sister told me that my passion fruit shouldn't be grown like what I am doing but I need something like a hangar for it. I got to think of something to complement the existing non-existent garden concept so as not to make it any worse, hahaha.

Allergies

My daughter had rashes yesterday. We are not sure what triggered the rashes (it looked like allergic reaction to me) and I was so worried as I was not sure what to do about it. Anyway, I brought her to clinic and after taking some medication and putting on some lotions, she is okay now and the rashes has disappeared, mostly, except some parts, hopefully all will be gone by the afternoon.

Even I am allergic, to artificial colours. Any food with artificial colour taken in big amount will cause serious allergic reactions. Fortunately, I was able to find out what I was allergic to (by chance) and taken some precaution against the triggers. At the same time, apparently, allergies are mostly caused by our liver inability to clear of the toxin efficiently (part of it anyway) and knowing that, I have taken supplements that would help liver to de-toxify. So far, it does help to lessen the occurence of allergic reactions as living in present world, you will inevitably come in contact or digest artificial colourings, in food, hair dyes, drinks, even tablets for medicine!!

I was so phobic of anything with colouring that I would read everything I buy from the supermarket. The silver lining is that I have to eat more healthily and I guess that will bring benefits in the long run, hahaha.

I hope we will be able to tell what my daughter is allergic to too so we can minimise the chances of triggering the allergic reactions again. I have a feeling that it has to do with living organism, either insects bite or some kind of dust mite or the likes.

Friends/Foods

Jamie said, enjoy the food, live and let's live...

Ewin said, hunt again??!!!

Well, guys, thanks for the encouragement!! Ewin - well, treasure hunting is fun but exasperating at the same time. Imagine you are supposed to break this treasure clue, "To say grace first before you eat this". Who the heck would know how to break this clue. In fact, those who did are not actually human, are they?

Jamie - I am taking your advice to the fullest, I just had another binge of Japanese foods with my family and tomorrow, I will start to eat healthy again.

Anyway, everyone has been talking about BMI with me. I have told them that I should be in the "healthy" region. Everyone insist that I am in the "aneroxic" region, puhleeez....I know what I see, I know what I want. An acquaintance walked up to me today, during the treasure hunt lunch time and asked me why have I lost so much weight (again!) and I have to explain that I am perfectly alright. He asked because another one of our acquaintance was down with cancer (touch wood) and he was losing weight like nobody's business. Hmmm, no wonder I went on a binge again just now, hahaha.

So, everyone has been mentioning about BMI and I have been very adamant that there is nothing wrong with my BMI. So, just to be sure that I am not deluding myself, I looked up BMI in the internet and calculated my own BMI. For the result, look at Figure 1. It is 19.4!! And IT IS in the healthy region.

Figure 1.

I will admit that it is at the lower reaches of the BMI, with plenty of room to spare, but being a glutton, one has to always be on the look out. Piling it on is extremely easy. Losing it is damn hard work. So, thank you very much, I appreciate the concern but as the figure showed, (and I always said that figure don't lie), I rest my case. So, stop worrying!!!

I will never get the muscular look because I don't have the muscle to build it on nor do I have the discipline to start piling it on. I either will look thin or obese. No in betweens. So, between the rock and the deep blue sea, the choice is obvious, right? And I would advise that to everyone else too because eventually, carrying too much weight around don't seemed to be good either, unless of course some people who are really born with "big bones", they can't help it if they are created that way. Hmmm....

Anyway, anyone interested to know the answer to the difficult clue at the start of this post?

Junk Food Days Are Back

Just for a week, alright. Seemed like I am gorging myself with foods these few days, rather, this two weeks past. Pretty soon, I am going to regret this, so, I have to post this and put this in writing so that I will start going to the gym and jog to burn off all this excess foods, not to mention high calories, super yummy, non-nutritious food!!

Grghhh!!! Some people just eat and have no worries whatsoever about overeating.

There will be treasure hunt tomorrow, all handled and registered by Hurley, I am going there to hunt only without any administrative headaches, hahaha.

Well, I got to go and sleep, lest I am stoned and unable to think outside the box, though I believed my team mates would be able to hold the fort should I slacks a bit tomorrow.

Picnic@Waterfall

Yesterday was a public holiday. My staffs decided to organise a trip to waterfall and invited me to join them. We left at about 8.30 a.m., and half way there, there was a heavy downpour. My son remarked that "this rain is ruining my happiest day." He was very excited about going to waterfall, he has never been to one, neither did my daughter.

We persevered and despite the rain, we still find a place to sort of camp out and built a fire for bbq-ing. There were lots and lots of food. They did something like pot luck and everybody brought their specialty. I had loads!!! Even a staff's spouse commented that I ate non-stop!! And someone was observing, hahaha. What a glutton. But the food spread were simply delicious. I love spicy foods anyway.

We spent like 5 hours there and the water was freezingly cold, that I couldn't really bear to soak myself for long. It was just too cold.

Anyway, we left at about 3.00 p.m., and I reached home about 5.00 p.m., yup, it was THAT far!! Anyway, it was a trip worth making, beside introducing my kids to nature, it was good that my staffs made the effort to have fun together.

One thing I noticed though, most of the people who have fun in nature were of the Malays ethnicity. The others probably don't enjoy outing with family that much. Those who don't, don't know how much they are missing. It is good for relationship, all this outings. Anyway, I hope they will make such outings a regular feature and I am looking forward to join them again.

Green Green Grass Of Home

Hehehe, what a cliche title.

What I had meant is literally. My so called garden, which is a lawn actually, is quite in need of trimmimg. Very!!

I bought a manual lawn mower and it just don't work. Silly of me for being penny wise pound foolish. I mean, the difference between a manual lawn mower and electric lawn mower was about MYR 100.00 and I was informed that manual lawn mower would cut nicer. Bah! Humbug!!

So, today, a neighbour loaned me his electric lawn mower and I enjoyed the grass cutting very very much. Now my lawn looked neat and clean and spacious. I felt much more relieved, in a way because the long grass irritates me to no end. Thank you my kind neighbour. He told me not to buy a lawn mower because I can take from him anytime, after all, nobody is going to mow their lawn everyday, right? He told me buying is not an issue but the storing is! Which is precisely the reason I ended up with manual lawn mower instead of the electric one, because of storage!!

Anyway, I will mow my lawn once more tomorrow, just to get a more even cut and probably do it once more next week, just to get a denser growth. And good exercise too!! Though not much of sweat but still, calories got burned and that's good enough with me, what with heavy intake of Nasi Lemak for dinner today..

Boringest Back Breaking Movie

I got myself some free tickets to watch the premier of The Watchmen.

One word, avoid like plague!!!!!!

You have been warned.....

I mean, I have watch my share of senseless, silly shows but this overhyped, promising movie has to take the cake. Not only was it deathly boring, it was back breaking even for it's duration, that the show was so long that I had to keep looking at my watch, to see the seconds ticking away.

Of course, I have watched shows like 2 1/2 or even 3 odd hours (like Hindustan movies) but at least, if the show is good, time flies. This movie was like a long torture for captured audience. After the end of the movie, we were like, what was it about again?

My kids said it was the most boringest show they ever watch, so, I was not alone in it. My sister said she yawned for almost 3 hours, meaning the whole duration of the show. My wife said, next time, don't ask her to waste time watching this type of show. As for me, unless there are some big names or some recommendation, I will, in most probablity, don't go for any movie premier. At least, I can have a good night sleep.

I thought The X-Files was boring enough, but The Watchmen wins hands down, anytime, by miles even!! Gosh, the movie really have nothing going for it at all, action - none, drama - none, suspense - none, love - none, special effect, none that can get your adrenaline rushing, NOT EVEN SLAPSTICK SILLINESS. Give me Bollywood singing in the garden theme anytime, at least I can hum the songs later on.

Enough of this blabbering, watch the watchmen at your own peril, you have been warned!!!

Another Day In Mundane Life

My car is in the workshop. I guess it indeed is getting on age. I don't feel like changing car but if it is going to inconvenient me, I might as well do. I am looking at my options. I prefer not to commit myself to another few years of debt for the car, that is why I prefer to maintain what I am currently driving, except for aging, the car is still in perfectly good condition....Choices and decisions, choices and decisions.

So, this morning, I got my sister to pick me up to send me to office, I just couldn't get up to take the lift from my wife, as she had to leave by 7.00 a.m., what I am going to do so early? I might as well get another forty winks. And looked like I have to trouble someone else tomorrow for a lift. I think I have to ask the mechanic to loan me a car again.

But before going to office, I still managed to find time to plant my rose apple (jambu air), hahaha. Seemed that the "orchard" is coming along nice, hmmmm.

And today, I ate a lot, again and didn't exercise, if this continues, I fear that I will not fit into the clothes I made in Bangkok!!! I better watch it again...That's an incentive for me, hahaha.

I met an old acquaintance today, we are about the same age and the best thing is, he asked me why I lost so much weight, and as usual, I said I am on strict diet. I commented that he lost some weight too and he said that is because he went and did braces for his teeth!!! I was like, what? What a co-incident, I did mine too and we were like, hahahaha. His reason practically is same like mine, that, last time, we couldn't afford it and now that we can afford to spend some money, we should do what we had wanted to do when we were younger.

Another friend commented that we are a bit too "old" for it but both of us said, she didn't come from under-privileged family, she wouldn't know our thoughts and reasons, in this instance, I suddenly found a comrade, a brother-in-arm for the same cause, that is just sweet, hahaha. And his dentist told him that it is never to old to do braces, some people even do it in the 50s.

Anyway, I don't have to justify what I want to do, it's my decision and mine alone. People can talk all they want but as long as I am happy, all else is immaterial...

Pomelo

I planted the pomelo seedling I bought last Wednesday, finally.

The thing is, it took me that long because I have to find some top soil, clay and loam to mix with my garden's sand. If just sand alone, I doubt that the pomelo tree will like it's new abode, hahaha.

I hope that in a year or two, it will start to bear fruits.
