Long holidays always bring conflicting interest to me, personally.
On the one hand, I look forward to days of relaxing, without any worries or disturbance from outside elements.
On the other hand, the days prior to holidays would be rush like mad, worse when your customers insist that you or your people must work on holidays too. Even worst is, they expected it like a right, not previlege and don't even willing to pay for taking away other people's family time!! How do you juggle an act like that? I have to take care of the customers' interest but at the same time, I have to take care of the staffs' feeling. Why do people go all out to make life difficult for others??
I wish I could be like some people, just leave the office work, don't show up and just expect things to be done. I guess I am old school, no matter how much I delegate, I will still keep an eye on the progress, to arrest any problems that might crop up, before it cropped up.
I can't just let go and play games etc when there is work to be done, especially in the peak period like this holidays eve. I guess it is the level of commitment and responsibility that keep me on top of things. I don't like to make noise AFTERWARDS, I prefer to avoid the AFTERWARDS at all cost.
It is a good thing that my staffs are quite responsible and committed lot, I don't have to use microscope to monitor their works but every now and then, I still have to be around to lend an opinion or two, otherwise, they might be lost in wilderness. I hope everyone will get a good rest this holidays and come back refreshed and full of vigour. Everyone needs to recharge. Take this holidays to recharge. Ciao...
